Its finally here! A summer of great competition all comes down to this : The Big Finals of The Big Joe Jersey Talent Show at Jenkinson's in Point Pleasant Beach, tonight at 7 pm. One champion will be crowned for each of the Junior, Teen, and Adult categories, as well as a Grand Champion! A panel of celebrity judges will be on the beach for this special evening to decide the champions, and it will be a night to remember. This an event you don't want to miss; you may just see the next superstar from the Garden State take the big prize at the finals of Big Joe Henry's Jersey Talent Show!

August 30th

1965- No. 1 Billboard Pop Hit: ``Help!'' The Beatles. The song is released in the U.S. two weeks before the film
            ``Help!'' opens in New York.

1970- The Isle of Wight Pop Festival is held in England, and features Jimi Hendrix, the Doors, the Who, Joni 
            Mitchell, Jethro Tull, Free, the Moody Blues, and others.

1980- Cher makes an unannounced appearance as vocalist with Black Rose at a concert in New York's Central
            Park.

1995- Sterling Morrison, a founding member of the Velvet Underground, dies at his home in Poughkeepsie, 
            N.Y., after a lengthy battle with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He was 53.

August 31st

1945- Van Morrison is born in Belfast, Ireland. His biggest hit is the top 10 song ``Domino,'' released in 1970.

1974- ``The Partridge Family'' television show ends, leaving David Cassidy free to pursue a solo music career.

1987- Michael Jackson's ``Bad'' video is televised for the first time on CBS-TV.

1995- The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum opens in Cleveland. The city is argued to be the birthplace 
            of rock beginning in the rooms of radio station WMMS, where disc jockey Alan Freed coined the term 
            ``rock 'n' roll'' in the early 1950s.

1947- Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees is born in Douglas, Isle of Man, U.K

1979- INXS makes its performance debut in Sydney, Australia.

1985- No. 1 Billboard Pop Hit: ``St. Elmo's Fire (Man in Motion),'' John Parr. The week this song from the film
            ``St. Elmo's Fire'' hits No. 1 marks the first time that songs from motion pictures hold the top three  
             positions on the Billboard Hot 100. Huey Lewis' ``The Power of Love'' from the film ``Back to the Future''  
             is No. 2 and Tina Turner's ``We Don't Need Another Hero'' from ``Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome'' is in

1995- Jazz trumpeter and vocalist Louis Armstrong is honored on a U.S. postage stamp. The sale is kicked off

1963- No. 1 Billboard Pop Hit: ``My Boyfriend's Back,'' The Angels. The group is the first white all-female group

1980- No. 1 Billboard Pop Hit: ``Upside Down,'' Diana Ross. The song stays at No. 1 for four weeks, the longest
            reign of any Ross song.

1986- While still in school, 16-year-old Debbie Gibson signs a contract with Atlantic Records and begins

1987- The Amnesty International Tour starts in London, starring Bruce Springsteen, Sting, Peter Gabriel and

1942- Al Jardine of the Beach Boys is born in Lima, Ohio.

1970- Al ``Blind Owl'' Wilson of Canned Heat dies in Topanga Canyon, Calif., at age 27.

1978- No. 1 Billboard Pop Hit: ``Boogie Oogie Oogie,'' A Taste of Honey. The group wins a Grammy as best new
            artist.

1999- The Virgin Megastore Web site gets more than it bargained for over the Labor Day weekend, when a half-

            in record-breaking numbers.

1964- The Animals give their debut U.S. performance at the Paramount Theater in Brooklyn, N.Y.
